通学中の私が目にした通勤するＯＬや サラリーマンたちが電車に揺られる姿である。 彼らは月曜日から金曜日と毎日同じ時間、同じ電車で、同じ人々と同じ空間を共有している。 肩を並べ、おしりを並べ、それぞれ向かう方向が違えども、 その一瞬、その電車内ではある種の一体感が生まれている。 ルーティンというと少し退屈さを思わせるが、 私にはそのルーティンを共に過ごす人々が仲間に思え、 その大切な仲間を作品にできたらいいなと思い制作した。
Commuter Train
This work depicts the office ladies and salarymen I glimpsed swaying in the train while I was on my own ride to school. From Monday through Friday, they board the same train at the same time and share the same space with the same faces. Shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip—though each heads toward a different destination, in that fleeting instant inside the carriage a quiet sense of unity emerges. The word ‘routine’ can sound dull, yet the people who share that routine feel like comrades to me. I created this piece in the hope of celebrating those precious companions.
